Eight benefits of LED lighting

In recent years, LED lighting has become big news. As well as harnessing the power of technology and providing great benefits to its users, this digital light source also has a positive impact on the environment.

If you’re new to the world of LED lighting and aren’t sure about whether or not to give it a try, here are eight benefits of doing so.

One of the biggest and most well-known benefits of LED lights is the fact that they boast an incredibly long lifespan. Their operational life expectancy is a whopping 100,000 hours which is an impressive 11 years of continuous operation or 22 years if you have your lights on 50% of the time.

Energy efficient

LED lighting is incredibly energy efficient and uses up to 90% less power compared to more traditional light bulbs. Because they only use a fraction of the energy compared to an incandescent light bulb, it means that you are likely to witness a big decrease in your energy bills. Because LED lights are so long-lasting it also means that you save money in replacement costs.

Environmentally friendly

Most conventional light bulbs contain a list of materials such as mercury which are dangerous for the environment. LED bulbs on the other hand are not only 100% recyclable, but they don’t contain any toxic chemicals either. They can also help you reduce your carbon footprint by a third which is great news for those who are conscious about the impact they’re having on the environment.

They’re great for outdoor lighting

LEDs are incredibly durable and can withstand even the harshest of conditions. Furthermore, they are also resistant to shock, vibration and external impacts which makes them perfect for outdoor lighting systems.

Can be used for more complex lighting systems

LED lighting can be used to produce highly efficient illumination and fantastic lighting effects. They can also be dimmed in order to create a dynamic control of light, colour and distribution.

Improved safety

Another top benefit of LED lighting is that it offers improved safety features. Because this type of light generates almost no heat, it’s not only cool to the touch but it can also be left on for hours on end without incidence. This not only reduces the risk of getting burnt but also makes the chance of a fire occurring much less likely.

As technology improves, our lives are constantly evolving and many of the things we used to use or do have become redundant. If you decide to opt for LED lighting, you will be one step ahead of everyone else because LEDs are set to replace traditional incandescent light bulbs in the very near future.

They are rapidly becoming the preferred lighting solution for both professionals and residential users and the technology for these types of lights is continuing to evolve to improve it even further.

Multi-purpose

Another great benefit of LED lights is that they’re very multi-functional. As well as being able to use them in homes, offices, shops and restaurants, they’re also used by the aerospace, architectural, automotive, broadcasting, electronic, entertainment, gaming, military, traffic and transportation industries.
